What is the Hospital Cash Benefit?

If you’re admitted to hospital for more than one night due to an accident or illness, we’ll provide you with a daily cash payment. This benefit starts on the second night of your hospital stay and can be claimed for up to 180 nights.

What surgeries are covered under the private surgery cover?

CoverCubed offers a range of surgical coverage for private procedures, including orthopaedic, cardiac, and spinal surgeries. You can view the full list of covered surgeries in our Terms & Conditions HERE.

How much does the Private Surgery Benefit pay?

For private surgeries, you could receive up to £25,000 over the lifetime of your policy, depending on the procedure. 

Can I combine the Hospital Cash Benefit & Surgery Benefit?

Yes, if you require surgery and an overnight hospital stay, you can claim both the hospital cash benefit and the surgery cash payout. Be sure to check your policy schedule for the exact coverage limits.

What happens with pre-existing conditions?

This policy may cover claims that are the result of pre-existing medical conditions, but the cover may be restricted. When we say ‘pre-existing medical condition’, we mean a condition or disability you knew about when you bought this insurance. 

A pre-existing condition includes conditions that led to one or more of the following outcomes in the 2 years before you took out this policy: In the context of this insurance, a ‘pre-existing medical condition’ is defined as a condition for which, in the last 2 years: 

  • You have consulted a doctor more than once. 
  • You have been referred to a specialist or added to a waiting list to see one. 
  • You have been referred, or are on a waiting list, to have tests or treatments. 
  • You have had tests or treatment, or you have been prescribed medication. 
  • You have been absent from work for 5 or more days. Your cover will be restricted for pre-existing medical conditions. These restrictions are described in each section where they apply. 

The following list of pre-existing medical conditions are not covered by this policy, regardless of when you had them: 

  • Heart attack 
  • Stroke
  • Cancer 
  • Organ failure or an organ transplant 
  • Autoimmune condition
  • Multiple sclerosis
What injuries/conditions are not covered?

We won’t cover temporary disability or permanent disability that results from or is caused by fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME). These are long term conditions that cause pain or extreme tiredness.

The reason for your temporary disability must be clearly described by your doctor. We can only cover diagnosed physical injuries or sicknesses. General fatigue or pain without a diagnosis are not covered. We don’t cover temporary disability that is the result of mental health conditions including stress, depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

We don’t cover any temporary disability that is directly or indirectly caused by, arises from, or is in any way connected to:

Any epidemic or pandemic (whether declared or not), Any illness or condition that is classified as an epidemic or pandemic by a government authority, the World Health Organization (WHO), or any public health agency, Any variants, mutations, or complications associated with such conditions. This exclusion applies regardless of whether the insured person contracted the illness in the course of their work or otherwise, and regardless of any government-imposed lockdown, quarantine, or travel restrictions related to the outbreak.

How do I claim?

Policyholders must notify us of a claim as soon as reasonably possible after the event giving rise to the claim. Claims may be notified via:

What are the differences between the gold, silver, and bronze plans?

When you choose your options as part of the online application process you always have freedom of choice. The Gold, Silver and Bronze plans are examples of how the flexible cover options can help you to choose the protection level that best suits your lifestyle and budget. While each includes a different combination of benefits and pay-out limits, your actual cover is always detailed in your Policy Schedule and governed by the Terms and Conditions.

Important: These are example benefit levels. Your actual cover is always set out in your Policy Schedule and governed by the Terms and Conditions of your policy.

What is meant by “policyholder” and “people covered by this policy”?

When we say ‘policyholder’ we mean the person that applied for this policy. They’ll be named as the policyholder on the policy schedule. This cannot be applied to a third party.

When we say ‘you’ or ‘your’, we mean the policyholder and their husband, wife, or partner as well as any dependent children, who are named on the policy schedule.

  • All adults insured under this policy must be under the age of 65. When anyone named on the policy schedule reaches their 65th birthday, we’ll stop covering them on the date the next premium is due.
  • Everyone covered by this policy who are listed on the policy schedule must be resident in the covered territories. When we say ‘covered territories’ we mean the United Kingdom (UK), the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. If you leave the covered territory where you were a resident when you applied for this insurance for longer than 180 days in a row, please let us know as you’ll no longer be covered.
  • When we use the term ‘dependent child’, we mean your children up to their 18th birthday. If they’re in full-time education, we’ll cover them up until their 23rd birthday. This includes adopted, foster and stepchildren.

This is an agreement between us and you. No one else has any rights under this agreement, other than your legal representative or anyone else you choose to carry out your wishes if you die.

Who is covered on your policy?

Everyone named on your policy schedule is covered by your policy. To be covered by this policy, adults must:

  • Be aged between 18 and 65 years old. When anyone named on the policy schedule reaches their 65th birthday, we’ll stop covering them on the date the next premium is due.
  • Live in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands and be legally allowed to live and work there.
  • Have been registered with a doctor in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands for at least the last 12 months.
  • Work in a paid job at least 16 hours per week.
Is Oncology covered under this policy?

No. Oncology (cancer treatment, investigations, or related services) is not covered under this policy. The policy is designed to provide financial protection for temporary disability, accidental death, hospitalisation, and surgery benefits as outlined in your policy schedule.
